A construction site moves, changes phase and often works at night: its lighting has to keep up. Light towers and tripod floodlights, 220V LED strips run as festoons, waterproof battens and IK10 bulkhead lights for welfare units: equipment built for dust, water and impacts.

Sensor floodlights on the hoarding or welfare unit, aimed at the ground: access, deliveries and storage stay lit without disturbing local residents.
Projecteurs LED avec Détecteur40 to 200lux
Tower or tripod floodlight set up high, beam angled down onto the work area: a source that is too low dazzles plant operators.
Projecteurs LED Industriels120 to 200lux
220V LED strip run as a festoon along walkways, portable floodlight or inspection lamp at the workstation for finishing.
Rubans LED Chantier120lux
Waterproof battens in changing rooms, mess room and toilets, IK10 bulkhead lights in passageways and outside the cabins.
Réglettes LED ÉtanchesHead torch to keep hands free, rechargeable floodlight where there is no socket: they supplement general lighting, they do not replace it.

Minimums from the French Labour Code (article R4223-4) and values from NF EN 12464-2 (outdoor workplaces, construction sites) by task; CRI and IP-IK: Silumen recommendations according to exposure.
The French Labour Code (article R4223-4) requires at least 10 lux on outdoor traffic routes, 40 lux in outdoor areas where permanent work is carried out and 120 lux in work premises, changing rooms and welfare unit toilets.
These are minimums. NF EN 12464-2 goes higher depending on the task: 20 lux for earthworks, 50 lux for construction areas, transport and storage, 100 lux for formwork, light reinforcement work and cable pulling, 200 lux for demanding electrical and mechanical assembly.
The site installation follows French standard NF C 15-100 (part 704). Every socket is protected by a 30 mA RCD, extension leads use H07RN-F flexible cable, and equipment is class II or powered by safety extra-low voltage (SELV).
Aim for IP65 as a minimum for equipment exposed to rain and splashes, and a high IK rating for anything within reach of plant or handling operations.
A light tower emits 360° from a high point: it lights an open area with a single connection, ideal for a storage yard or a night shift in the middle of the site. An aimed floodlight concentrates light on a working face, a façade or a trench.
On a large site, the two are often combined: a tower in the centre, floodlights on the work zones.
Unroll the strip as a festoon, fixed high along walkways, out of reach of plant and falling materials. Only cut it at the marks provided on the strip and connect it with its dedicated power cord and connectors, to a socket protected by a 30 mA RCD.
In renovation work, one run of strip per corridor or stairwell avoids multiplying floodlights on the floor, which are a trip hazard.
A construction site changes every week. Earthworks need large floodlights, structural work needs mobile towers, finishing trades need close-range light on walls and ceilings. Plan lighting that moves with the teams, rather than a fixed installation designed for the first phase.
Pedestrian access, delivery area, storage yard: these are the first points to secure. Sensor floodlights fixed to the hoarding or the welfare unit light up as people pass and then switch off. Aim them at the ground, never at the street or at local residents' windows.
For a late concrete pour, roadworks or a night shift, the tripod light tower is the quickest tool to set up: a single power supply, 360° light output and a height that limits cast shadows. For a specific workstation, an aimed floodlight does better. Our industrial floodlights cover large sites and installations that stay in place for several months. Place the source high and angle the beam down onto the work area: light that is too low dazzles plant operators.
In renovation and finishing work, the permanent lighting does not exist yet. 220V site LED strips, run as festoons along walkways and stairwells, provide continuous light without multiplying floodlights on the floor. At the workstation, a portable floodlight or inspection lamp adds light for finishing, with grazing light to spot plaster defects.
Changing rooms, mess room, toilets and site office are work premises in their own right. Waterproof LED battens withstand condensation and jet washing. In passageways and outside the cabins, IK10 bulkhead lights absorb impacts. Also plan emergency lighting units to mark the exits in the event of a power cut.
Site equipment lives with dust, water and impacts. Choose class II equipment or equipment powered by safety extra-low voltage, IP65 as a minimum when exposed, and an IK rating suited to its position. Run H07RN-F cables, designed for outdoor use and mechanical stress, and connect everything to sockets protected by a 30 mA RCD. Any equipment lying on the ground must be able to be driven over or splashed with water without danger.
Neutral white and cool white are the norm on site: they keep good contrast for reading a plan, a spirit level or a material shade. Outdoors near homes, limit the power and the light aimed at the sky so as not to disturb the neighbourhood.
